Investigators say a “catastrophic breach” of an earthen wall of the Harrison Park detention pod on June 19, 2009, released 2.9 million gallons of water in less than 20 minutes. It unleashed a wave that gushed through a rail corridor in southeast Rockford where a Canadian National train hauling ethanol derailed when the railroad bed washed out.
